Custom Display Page

Custom Display Page

Create professional viewer-facing pages with the visual page builder or custom URLs

PulseMesh provides two ways to customize the page viewers see when accessing your display: the new Visual Page Builder (Pro+ feature) or a Custom URL redirect. Both options let you create a branded experience that goes beyond the default display information page.

Page Builder

The Visual Page Builder is a powerful Pro+ feature that lets you create professional, branded viewer experiences without any coding knowledge. With drag-and-drop simplicity, you can design custom landing pages that viewers see when they scan your QR code or visit your display link.

Key Features

  • Visual drag-and-drop editor - No coding required
  • Pre-designed templates - Start with professional layouts
  • Asset management - Upload and organize images and videos
  • Responsive design - Automatically adapts to all screen sizes
  • Real-time preview - See changes as you make them
  • Version history - Restore previous versions if needed

Getting Started

  1. Navigate to your display in the dashboard
  2. Click on Custom Display Page
  3. Select Open Page Builder
  4. Choose a template or start from scratch
  5. Design your page using the visual tools
  6. Publish when ready

Custom URL

For users who prefer to host their own pages or need specific functionality not available in the page builder, you can still redirect viewers to a custom URL.

Setting a Custom URL

  1. Navigate to your display in the dashboard
  2. Scroll to the Custom Display Page section
  3. Toggle Use Custom URL to on
  4. Enter your full URL (must include https://)
  5. Save your display settings

Common Use Cases for Custom URLs

  • Remote Falcon integration - Interactive light show control
  • Jukebox functionality - Song request systems
  • Personal websites - Your existing display website

URL Requirements

  • Must use HTTPS for security
  • Should be mobile-responsive
  • Must be publicly accessible
  • No authentication required for viewers
  • Should load quickly on mobile networks

Choosing Between Options

Use the Page Builder when you want:

  • Professional design without coding
  • Fast page loading from PulseMesh servers
  • Built-in analytics and tracking
  • Easy updates and changes
  • Mobile-optimized templates
  • Integrated with PulseMesh features

Use a Custom URL when you need:

  • Integration with external services
  • Complex interactive features
  • Existing website integration
  • Third-party tools (Remote Falcon, etc.)

What Viewers See

With Page Builder or Custom URL

When configured, viewers see your custom page:

  1. After scanning your QR code
  2. When accessing your display link
  3. In the mobile app display details
  4. Before and during audio playback

Default Page (No Customization)

Without customization, viewers see:

  • Your display photo
  • Display name and description
  • Connection status
  • Basic playback controls

Best Practices

Content Guidelines

  • Display schedule - When your show runs
  • Parking information - Where viewers should park
  • Safety guidelines - Traffic flow, viewing areas

Performance Tips

  • Optimize images - Compress before uploading
  • Limit video autoplay - Saves mobile data
  • Test on mobile - Most viewers use phones
  • Fast loading - Under 3 seconds ideal
  • Offline fallback - Consider poor connections

Design Recommendations

  • Mobile-first design - Prioritize phone screens
  • Large tap targets - Minimum 44px for buttons
  • Readable fonts - 16px minimum size
  • High contrast - Ensure text is legible
  • Simple navigation - Don't overwhelm viewers

Troubleshooting

Page Not Loading

  • Verify URL is correct and uses HTTPS
  • Check page is publicly accessible

Page Looks Wrong on Mobile

  • Use responsive design techniques
  • Test on actual devices
  • Check viewport settings
  • Simplify layout for small screens
  • Use mobile-specific CSS
