Usage Guidelines

When to Use Generic QR Codes

  • Community events with multiple displays

  • Starter plan without access to display codes

When Display Codes Are Better

  • Single display focus - Direct viewers to your specific show
  • Simplified experience - Skip the discovery step
  • Privacy conscious viewers - No location permission needed (uses geo-IP)

Display Best Practices

  1. Size matters - Make QR codes big enough to scan easily at the expected viewing distance
  2. High contrast - Black on white works best
  3. Clear instructions - Add text like "Scan for Audio"
  4. Multiple locations - Place at entrance and viewing areas

How It Looks to Viewers

With Generic QR Codes:

  1. Scan QR code
  2. Open PulseMesh (app or web)
  3. Allow location access
  4. See list of nearby displays
  5. Tap to connect to your display

With Display Codes (Pro+):

  1. Scan display-specific QR code
  2. Open directly to your display
  3. Instant connection (geo-IP verification)
  4. No location permissions needed

Troubleshooting

QR Code Not Scanning

  • Ensure adequate lighting
  • Check code isn't damaged or dirty
  • Try different angles
  • Make code larger if too small

Display Not Found After Scanning

  • Verify viewer is within geo-radius
  • Check display is online and active
  • Ensure location services are enabled
  • Consider using display codes for direct access

Wrong Display Selected

  • Add clear signage with display name
  • Consider display codes for direct linking
  • Adjust geo-radius to avoid overlap
