Subscription Plans & Limits

Understanding PulseMesh subscription tiers and feature limits

PulseMesh has four self-serve plans for displays you run at a fixed location: a free Starter plan for trying things out, Pro for larger home displays, and two commercial plans for businesses. All plans are billed yearly and run on the same sync engine — what changes between them is capacity, how viewers can reach your display, and what you're licensed to use it for.

Understanding Limits

Which limits are per display?

LimitApplies to
Concurrent viewersEach display
SourcesEach display
Display rangeEach display
Viewer sessionsYour whole account, across all displays
DisplaysYour whole account

Concurrent Viewers

The number of people who can be listening to one display at the same time.

When a display is full, viewers trying to join see a message that the display is unavailable and to try again in a few minutes. People who are already listening aren't affected.

You can see current and peak viewers on the Usage & Limits page in your dashboard. If you regularly hit your limit on busy nights, consider upgrading before your peak season.

Viewer Sessions

The total number of listening sessions across all your displays in a year.

What counts as a session:

  • A session counts once a viewer has been listening for about a minute while your show is playing
  • Reconnecting during the same visit doesn't count again
  • The rule is the same on every plan

When the count resets:

  • Paid plans: at the start of each billing year, when your subscription renews
  • Starter: every 12 months from when you signed up

The Usage & Limits page shows how many sessions you've used against your limit.

When you reach your limit:

  • Starter and Pro: your displays are taken off the nearby-displays list, and you can't make them public again until your session count resets or you upgrade.
  • Commercial Lite and Commercial Pro: your show keeps running. Sessions beyond your limit are billed at $20 per additional 1,000 sessions (or part of 1,000) after your billing year ends.

Display Limits

The number of separate display locations you can manage. Each display has its own location, range, sources, and statistics.

Source Limits

The number of show sources — local players (FPP, xSchedule, or Light-O-Rama) or a Cloud Player — you can add to each display. Multiple sources are useful for things like a backup player or running different shows from one display.

Display Range

How far from your display's address viewers can be and still find it by location. You can set any range from 0.1 miles up to your plan's maximum:

  • Starter: 0.5 miles
  • Pro: up to 2 miles
  • Commercial Lite and Commercial Pro: up to 5 miles

Viewers who join with a display code or direct link don't need to be within range.

Commercial Licensing

Starter & Pro: residential use

Starter and Pro are for residential and neighborhood displays, such as a holiday light show at your home.

Commercial Lite & Commercial Pro: commercial use

The commercial plans are licensed for business use — drive-through shows, venues, shopping centers, municipal displays, and any for-profit display.

Selling tickets, taking sponsorships, or promoting a display as a public attraction counts as commercial use and may require a commercial plan. See the Terms of Service for the full details.

Changing Your Plan

Upgrading

  1. Go to Billing in your dashboard and select Change Plan
  2. Pick your new plan on the pricing page
  3. Review the prorated charge and confirm

Upgrades take effect right away. You're charged the prorated difference for the rest of your billing year on the card you already have on file. Moving from Starter to a paid plan goes through a normal checkout.

Downgrading

Downgrading between paid plans isn't available in the dashboard — contact us and we'll help. To move to Starter, cancel your subscription: you keep your current plan until the end of the year you've paid for, then your account moves to Starter.

What happens when your plan's limits get smaller:

  • Display ranges above the new maximum are reduced to it. If you upgrade again later, your previous ranges are restored.
  • Display codes and direct links are turned off when you move to Starter, and come back if you upgrade again.
  • You can't add displays or sources beyond the new plan's limits.
  • Nothing is deleted.

Cancellation and refunds

You can cancel anytime from Billing. Your plan stays active until the end of the year you've paid for. We don't give partial refunds for unused time, except where required by law.

Failed payments

If your renewal payment fails, you keep your plan for 7 days while you update your payment method. We'll email you when the payment fails, again shortly before the 7 days are up, and once more if the plan lapses. After that, your account runs on Starter limits until the payment goes through.

Need More?

If you need higher limits than Commercial Pro, more displays, or a custom-branded player (your identity in the app and web player), we offer custom plans. Talk to us about what you need.

Events & Other Show Types

The plans above are the self-serve track for fixed displays. If you're running drone shows, fireworks, or other one-off events, PulseMesh offers event packages shaped around productions — see pricing or talk to our team.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I change plans anytime?

Yes. Upgrades take effect immediately. To downgrade between paid plans, contact us; to move to Starter, cancel and your plan runs until the end of your paid year.

Is there monthly billing?

No. All paid plans are billed yearly.

What happens if I go over my limits?

On Starter and Pro, your displays stop appearing to nearby viewers until your session count resets or you upgrade. On commercial plans your show keeps running and additional sessions are billed at $20 per 1,000.

Is there a free trial?

There's no trial, but there's a free Starter plan you can use for as long as you like. Upgrade when you're ready.

Do unused sessions roll over?

No. Your session count resets at the start of each billing year.
